“Boda Borg” 2025

Boda Borg Columbus - 2025

After a few years off, we had another Boda Borg style puzzle this year for New Years Eve, (see also (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022). See the 2019 post for a longer description of Boda Borg. While the puzzle was inspired by an event from this year, it was less of a “year-in-review” game this year, as I pared it down to a single room

Louvre Heist

Players had to complete a heist at the Louvre! After entering the puzzle, players were presented with three doors. One labeled “Maintenance closet”, one called “Gift Shop”, and a third leading to some steps. In the gift shop, there was a container of “300 grams of Mosaic Glass” available, as well as three gift shop bags. Using some basic geometry, and assuming that all the materials are of equivalent density, players can work out the mass of each item, e.g. a small green triangle weighs 10 grams.

In the maintenance closet were Hi-Vis vests, as well as grabbers, a long pole with a hook, and a small saw.

After going up the steps, there was a sign indicating that no one would be admitted except on construction business. Players had to don the Hi-Vis vests to avoid detection. There was a locked gate at the top, where players had to cut through the lock with the saw.

Finally they were met with a partitioned-off area containing the crown jewels, each of which was labeled with a weight in grams. To avoid tripping the alarms, players could use the grabber arms, gift bags, and hook, players could simultaneously swap out the jewels with an equivalent weight of mosaic glass, then head back down the stairs to make their escape!

Stamp

After escaping with the stolen goods (which had the stamp attached), players could stamp the 2025 Louvre-inspired stamp into their Boda Borg passport.
